Cycling events and pain management
July 5th, 2016
Bike week is an annual event, there is special focus on bikes at work. Many are set challenges as to which are the quickest routes and work people take on challenges to get themselves fit again.
Bike week can be exciting however, people need to make sure they are fit enough to take on any new challenges. We regularly see patients at the clinic who are keen bikers, often seen for either injuries, pulled muscles or accidents or overuse injuries. A quite common injury is to the knee. Excessive use can put a strain on cartilage and the meniscus. Here at our extremely busy clinic we have an extremely good physio Rob Jackson. Rob has been working for many years with sports enthusiasts and is a keen cyclist himself. Cyclists that we see at the clinic see our practitioners with the following complaints-
Knee pain
hip strain
heel pain,
neck injuries
back pain.
If there is someone with either shoulder pain or neck pain we suggest booking an appointment with Richard Lehane ,Rob Jackson or our chiropractor Tim who is the top of his field regarding neck injuries.
Sarah Spearing can also help in releasing fatigue in the joints, Sarah offers massage therapy also for people that are about to attend races, or competitions.
We say is prevention is better than cure, and regular sports massage may help prevent injuries for any sport.
